Blender vs substance painter, what is the best 3d texturing application on market?
substance painter is one of the best software for texturing 3d models, its a dedicated standalone texturing application with a set of powerful tools and masks for detecting edges, corners, ground position. this masks are great for creating material wear and tear.
you can also use blender to generate the same masks as substance painter but there is no one click solution like substance painter.
in the video i show my process of texturing this barn in both blender and substance painter
when texturing in blender you have can get away with texturing without doing any uv unwrapping, which is not possible with substance painter. substance painter uses baked maps to generate masks, baking mask requires that your mesh is properly uv unwrapped or you will start to see unwanted effects.
