claude code for blender

claude code is coming to blender, now i know this sounds like bad new, and it kinda is, atleast judging from the overall reaction from the blender community, but as someone who explores what Ai can do on a daily basis am not worried there is nothing more hyped up than Ai today, and based on the rag pulls anthropic and the other Ai companies have done in the last few days am confident the 3d industry is going to be fine, if you dont know about the rug pulls, All ai tools from codex, copilot, claude changed how you pay for them, instead of paying for a subscription and you use it until your credits runout, you now pay as you go, this does not sound too bad, until the Ai repeats the same simple mistakes that it has to redo, and gas light you, telling you its fixed only to findout it has not, you do this acouple of times and your bill is 10times more expensive, each refactor now cost more, and claude is getting better and not doing anything and pretending its done with everything you requested, so if its coming to blender good luck using it, because unlike coding, making a scene in 3d is way more difficult than programing, you are dealing with hundreds of variables, lighting, shadows, composition, textures, materials, animation, the list is endless.

in other news invidia Lyra 2.0 was released this can generate camera-controlled walkthrough videos and lift them to 3D via feed-forward reconstruction. To enable long-horizon, 3D-consistent generation,its getting better at spatial consitency to avoid forgetting with per-frame geometry for information routing and temporal drifting with self-augmented training that teaches the model to correct drift. just read that directly from there website, but here is my own take, remind me what the point of this is, maybe in robotics, but we have seen demos like this maybe 2years ago, with different Ai, and still can't figure out where they are useful, it can't be for games, because they are definately not realtime, i guess as a 3dartist i forget that not every visual tech is designed for the 3d industry, i guess if you are in robotics or some other industry, like real estate, this is a urica moment for you, moving on.

 

real camera

there addons to fake hand camera movements in blender but this addon gives you the closest thing to the realthing, you use your phone and an app that connects your phone camera to your blender camera, now what your blender camera seeing is transfered to your phone, just like the avatar and unreal engine demos, this can have several uses, like if you have a character runing, chasing them in handheld mode would be interesting, hopefully this does not mean you have to run with your phone in the realife, since the 3d camera matches the phone movement. it would be like the early days of apple vision where the ui elements would fly by when you are on a plane, and you would have to fly back to find them otherwise they would be lost for ever, thats an exaguration btw, but not by much.

 

Substance 3D Painter 12.1 Beta: New Features

if you do your texturing in substance painter, you should checkout some of there new features in substance painter 12.1 beta, there new workflows for creating normals, texturing and others, you can now adjust and improve your normals by re painting them, to make them directly face the direction of the faces, reoriating the shading, which makes the depth effect more powerful and realistic.

and for the boys, following the words of kendric lama, show me some stretch marks, moshie draws did not disappoint, and to think this is not actually 3d,the jiggle, the physics, dont ask me the color of anything, what a demo.

 

drivers 2

love this demo for drivers 2, an addon for creating drivers for animation in blender, you can map a whole animation cyclel like running, idle, jumping and full facial expression to sliders using the addon, these are not simple shape keys mapped to drivers, these are whole animations, its giving game engine design, check it out on superhive

 

 

arago - 3D digitization from Big to Small

check out this rig used for photoscanning, it automates the photography part which is the most manual and time consuming part of the processes, looks expensive but the results are also worth it, it obits the objects to take pictures from all sides and angles, to give you the most detailed scan, and it can scale to different heights to capture clothing, furniture, and small objects, since photogrametry is basically the same as gaussiansplats, its being used for that too, this is likely the future of online shopping, you examine what you buy from all angles before you buy.

check out this animation made for MAPPA using blender, blender has cemented its self as the go too tool for making anime films, its flexibility in shader design, addon compatibility and the blende Api has made it the most vaible option for alot of studios add geometry nodes to it and there is no reason to even look into other tools.

 

 

character hair

i relax to this, demos that just show clever ways to do something, i would never think of this, detailed stylized hair from mesh cards, the hair looks thick, detailed, you can see individual strands, and its still fits in the general art style of the character, if you want to be wowed, just watch breakdowns like this it will make your day.

 

compositing & fluid simulation in blender

if you had not thought of compositing, take a look at tori atwrorks demo, of this before and after render, the before just looks like a still image, its looks great and without the after i would still be wowed by the render alone, but seeing the after just takes it to a new level, now its nolonger a slide show but a work of art fit to be in one punch man season one or arcane, its mastery at the top.
